News

Dear Port Angeles School District Families and Community,

It is with a mixture of pride and sadness that we, the Port Angeles School Board, share the news that Superintendent Martin “Marty” Brewer has made the decision to transition to semi-retirement and embark on new ventures, effective August 29, 2025. This decision, thoughtfully made by Marty with plenty of transition time for the district, comes as he closes a remarkable chapter of leadership in our district.

Over the past seven years, Marty has been a visionary leader, a compassionate listener, and an unwavering advocate for our students, staff, and community. His steady leadership, particularly during challenging times, brought both continuity and strength to our district, guiding us through complexities with resilience and clarity. Marty’s commitment to keeping students’ best interests at the heart of his decisions has been instrumental in shaping our district’s mission and progress.

A Message to Staff, School Families, and the Port Angeles Community

It is with immense gratitude that I say thank you, voters, for your support of our Educational Programs & Operations Levy and Capital Bond in this November election. Approval of these measures ensures we can continue to offer essential programs and enhance learning environments that benefit every student across our district.

Achieving the 60% supermajority for the bond is a remarkable achievement, highlighting our community's strong commitment to safe, high-quality schools. You’ve been our partner in this work from the very beginning through your participation in our community-informed, long-term facilities planning process. Your insights have been invaluable in helping us align our vision for safe, high-quality schools with the needs and aspirations of those we serve. Now we get to work together to foster a transparent process to bring these plans to life. I look forward to sharing more in the months to come.

Your partnership is invaluable, it’s essential to our mission, and it will be rooted in our schools for years to come.

With deep appreciation,

Martin Brewer
