Indigenous People's Day - October 10

Port Angeles School District observes October 10th as Indigenous People’s Day. This day is for celebrating, recognizing, and honoring the beautiful traditions and cultures of the Indigenous People, not just in America but worldwide. Their way of life and culture carries wisdom and valuable insights into how we can live life more sustainably. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a holiday that celebrates the Native Americans, the original inhabitants of North America. Indigenous Peoples Day is a time for reflection and remembrance for many people.

The Port Angeles School District honors this day, and we take a stand for and support the Indigenous people on this respected day.
