Capital Facilities Planning

Bringing the 30-Year Capital Facilities Plan to Life

The Port Angeles Capital Advisory Committee (PACAC) is hard at work carrying out the first phase of the school district's community-informed, 30-Year Capital Facilities Plan.

30-Year Facilities Plan Recommendations Include:

  • Predictable tax-rates
  • Continuous investment in facilities
  • Prioritize schools with the greatest needs first
  • 21st Century safety and security measures

30-Year Timeline

In 2025, the middle school will be fully funded, the voter-approved capital levy will end, and a new bond will be proposed in its place. This bond will help us further our commitment to keeping tax rates low. The district’s goal is to provide a 30-year capital improvement plan that updates our schools to current safety standards. The timeline below outlines our 30-year plan and the schools needing the most attention for safety enhancements.

Current Facilities Plan Progress

  • On Thursday, June 13, the Port Angeles School District unveiled the design of the new middle school!
  • The PASD Board of Directors unanimously approved the hiring of Integrus + YGH architecture to manage the design, project execution, and construction for the expansion and renovation of the new middle school.
  • Integrus will partner with Vanir Construction Management Company, Forma Construction, and PASD for this project.

About the PACAC:

The Port Angeles Capital Advisory Committee (PACAC) was formed in 2020 to ensure ongoing facilities updates were informed by a broad-cross section of the Port Angeles community. The PACAC review expenditures, develops and reviews designs, and provides feedback to the BASD Board of Directors during the firm selection process. The mission of the PACAC is to support the construction, modernization, and remodeling of school facilities while maximizing dollars from the state and minimizing the burden on taxpayers.

PACAC members include:

  • Sarah Methner – School Board President
  • Sandy Long – School Board Director
  • Marty Brewer – Superintendent
  • Nolan Duce – Director of Maintenance and Facilities

Monroe Playfield Opened!

The Port Angeles School District unveiled the Monroe Playfield in the fall of 2023. This project is the culmination of community efforts since 2007. The playfield project was funded through property sales, timber revenues, and Capital Levy Funds. The playfield is the first project completed in the District's 30-Year Capital Improvement Plan.
