Wear Red on May 5th
National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls

Wearing red helps bring awareness to the history of the underestimated 5,712 cases of MMIWG reported in 2016. Out of the 5,712, the Department of Justice database only logged 116 of those cases. Native American Indigenous women are murdered at a rate that is ten times the national average on some reservations and the 3rd leading cause of death among Native American Indigenous women. 84% of Native American Indigenous women experience some kind of violence in their lifetime.
