Update from PASD: Returning on Monday 1/3

Dear PASD Families,

We look forward to welcoming back students and staff on Monday, January 3rd. To prepare for the return to school from holiday break, we are reaching out with important updates from our local health department and information from the district:

  • The Clallam County Department of Health updated the return-to-school flow chart on caring for students/staff exposed to COVID-19. The county has aligned the new guidance with Washington State's best practices for the new omicron variant. Please review the changes and become familiar in case your family is exposed here
  • If your student is sick, please keep them home from school and get tested. Cases are rising sharply, and we all must do our part to keep our schools open and safe.
  • If staff or students are experiencing symptoms or have been exposed, please get tested:
    • On Monday, January 3rd, PASD will provide testing for students and staff experiencing symptoms or who have been exposed from 6:30am to 9am at the Lincoln Center – District office (905 W 9th St, Port Angeles, WA 98363).

    • If you need a COVID test before Monday, January 3rd, or cannot make it to the Lincoln Center on Monday morning, drive-through testing is available at the new Olympic Medical Center Front Street Clinic (901 E. Front Street Port Angeles, WA 98362). The drive-through is open daily from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Please note, the clinic is closed on New Year's Day 1/1/22. For more information, visit: www.olympicmedical.org/services/covid-19-services/

We hope you were able to enjoy the snow and stay warm. As a reminder, bad weather and other situations may change school or bus schedules. In bad weather, we will announce changes by 6:00 am. If you don't hear from us, it means schools and buses are operating normally. Please dress children appropriately for the cold weather to allow them to wait safely and comfortably for the bus.

The health and safety of our students and staff are our utmost priority. Vaccinations and masks are our two greatest allies. We will continue with masking mitigation strategies and appreciate your help slowing the spread. We can do this if we all work together.

We wish you and your family a happy and healthy New Year!

In Partnership,

Carmen Geyer
