Michelle Olsen, Superintendent
Port Angeles School District

Michelle Olsen has served as Superintendent of the Port Angeles School District since July 1, 2025, and is entering her 24th year in the district. She began her education career in 1995 as a second-grade teacher in the Sumner School District. In 2002, she joined PASD as principal of Jefferson Elementary, later leading Roosevelt Elementary and Dry Creek Elementary. In 2020, she became Assistant Superintendent, overseeing teaching and learning for grades K–12.

Michelle earned her B.A. in Politics and Government and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Puget Sound (1994). She holds both principal and superintendent certifications from City University, completed in 2002 and 2019 respectively.

Michelle and her husband, Dave, have been married for 33 years and have four children—now ages 18, 22, 24, and 28—all proud graduates of Port Angeles schools. As both an educator and parent in the district, she is deeply committed to student success and community partnership.

She is passionate about helping each student become a successful learner and graduate with the skills needed to thrive as a contributing member of society. Known for her curiosity and collaborative leadership, Michelle values strong relationships with staff, families, and the broader community to ensure every student receives a high-quality education.

Michelle is honored to work with the PASD Board of Directors—a true team of six—to complete three major capital projects: Stevens Middle School, Franklin Elementary, and Port Angeles High School. Scheduled to open in 2027, 2028, and 2029, these projects represent over a quarter of a billion dollars in community investment and will provide lasting benefits for students, families, and the local economy.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, reading, traveling, cooking, and visiting wineries throughout the Pacific Northwest.
