Expectations & Examples of Measurement from 2008 Math Standards Revision (draft) - Kindergarten

Identify attributes that are measurable, such as length, weight, and capacity, and use these attributes to make direct comparisons. Use language such as longer/wider/deeper/higher than, heavier/lighter than, and holds more/holds less.

Examples of Measurement from the 2006 GLEs – Kindergarten

List different measurable attributes of an object.

Differentiate between measurable and non measurable attributes of an object.

Explain how to sort objects in more than one way by using different measurable attributes.

Use comparative vocabulary, including longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, thicker, and/or thinner, to describe the attributes of length or weight for an object.

Order objects using direct comparison of measurable attributes including length or weight.
