On February 6, 2007, voters in the Port Angeles School District approved a four-year maintenance and operations levy to maintain essential education operations. The proposed levy replaced a current two-year levy, which expired at the end of 2007.
Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand reported that 10,099 ballots (54.96% of those distributed) were counted, and the school district maintenance and operations levy was certified and finalized on February 21, 2007 with a 66.07% "yes" vote.
The maintenance and operations levy supports the day-to-day operation of public schools and programs not funded, or not fully funded, by the state.
