Business and Marketing DepartmentThe members of the Business and Marketing Department try to maintain classroom standards that reflect those of the typical business community. The content of courses reflects up-to-date methods used in today's offices and business retailing firms. Business courses are not required to graduate from high school, but courses may be used to satisfy Career and Technology Education and elective course requirements. Every student will find certain business courses advantageous in dealing with personal affairs in future years. The Business and Marketing Department offers four programs in which a student may specialize. A student may receive a "Certificate of Competency" in addition to the regular high school diploma by completing all courses in any one of these four areas with an average GPA of 3.0 in each certificated area. The certificate is evidence of satisfactory achievement in an area of business training and gives a decided advantage to the holder when applying for employment.
