PAHS FBLA Students at Nationals in MDSenator Milo Atwater, PAHS Class of 2108, and Talia Anderson, PAHS Class of 2021, participated in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, MD held June 28 – July 1.

Atwater’s event was under the category of Emerging Business Issues, and his presentation topic was about Crowd Sourcing.   Anderson competed in the category of Introduction to Business Communications.

On June 30, FBLA advisor Pam Helpenstell notified PAHS staff from Baltimore that Senator Milo Atwater had moved into the finals round of competition.   “We were able to watch him compete in the finals this morning,” said Helpenstell.  “We find out if they placed at closing ceremonies tomorrow evening.”

Over 12,000 students and advisors attended opening ceremonies, according to Helpenstell.  Senator Milo Atwater finished in the top 14 out of 98 teams in his event.

“I am proud of both of these students.  I want to congratulate Milo, who just graduated from PAHS in June, and is Harvard-bound in fall!” said Helpenstell.

Helpenstell and Bernie Brabant are co-advisors for PAHS’s FBLA group.

FBLA is an American career and technical student organization that has been around since 1940.  FBLA primarily helps students transition to the business world.  For more information, go to www.fbla-pbl.org.
