Summer Lunch Program for Youth, Ages 1 to 18 Years, Offered Through August 31

Port Angeles, Wash. - First Step Family Support Center, a United Way partner agency, announces the sponsorship of the 2012 Summer Food Program. Meals will be made available at no charge to attending children 1 to 18 years of age.

Meals will be provided at the site(s) listed below at the noted times beginning June 25 and ending August 31.   Meal service will be closed July 4.

Please note that all sites will be closed Monday, July 4 in observance of the holiday.

The USDA Summer Food Program, sponsored by First Step will serve a lunch each day that will include milk, a meat/protein source, fruits/vegetables, and bread. Each bagged lunch will align with the USDA’s nutrition standards and will be free to all children ages 1 to 18. Children will receive the foods they need to learn, play, and grow during summer vacation when they don’t eat at school. First Step expects to serve over 8,000 meals this summer.  In accordance with Federal Law and U. W. First Step is partnering with the Port Angeles School District, Sodexho and several local human services agencies and interested individuals to provide the Summer Food Program this year.  The program is free to ALL children between 1 and 18 years of age.
