Jefferson Elementary Raises Funds Playing Bovine Bingo
April 26, 2012
Port Angeles, Wash. – The Jefferson Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, with the help of a bovine named Hershey, held its version of B-I-N-G-O on Friday afternoon at the school’s playfield. Proceeds of approximately $2,000 from the fundraiser will support future school activities, field trips, equipment and supplies.
Hershey was led around by “cow wranglers.”
Students sold $5 tickets to participants for the chance Hershey would “plop” in their designated plot area.
While Hershey did NOT “plop” in the half hour allotted for the event, ticket purchasers had a second chance – a random drawing from names of ticket purchasers. Trish Federly, whose name was drawn, won the $500 top prize. She donated $200 from her winnings to the Jefferson PTO.
Christine Chang’s first grade class won the honor of decorating Hershey for the top sales classroom (They made Hershey a blanket.), plus they received the honor of a “meet and greet” with Hershey before the contest. Chang was awarded a $25 gift card by the PTO. Top seller overall was Emma Olsen.
