New Principal for Dry Creek Elementary
August 14, 2012
Port Angeles, Wash. – Superintendent of Port Angeles Schools Jane Pryne announced Sean Schoenfeldt has been selected as the new principal for Dry Creek Elementary. Schoenfeldt replaces Kate Wenzl, who is now director of special education and federal programs for the Port Angeles School District.
Schoenfeldt most recently served as principal designee, administrative intern and a second grade teacher at Northeast Tacoma Elementary in the Tacoma School District where he has worked since 2001.
“We are very excited at the selection of Sean,” Dr. Pryne said. “His primary teaching and leadership experience working with a diverse population will be invaluable to Dry Creek Elementary and our School District. He has been the acting principal designee for the past four years, and has been both a primary and intermediate teacher in the Tacoma School District. As one of his references stated excitedly, ‘He is truly an instructional collaborative leader.’ “
“Sean grew up on the Peninsula,” Dr. Pryne added, “and is a Sequim High School graduate. He is very excited about returning to Port Angeles with his wife and two young children. Please join me in welcoming Sean back to the greater Port Angeles community.”
Schoenfeldt earned a Master of Elementary Education in 2002 and initial teaching certification in 1999, both from Central Washington University. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Washington State University in 1997 and administrator certification 6-12 from City University in June.
His hiring was approved by the School Board of Directors at its August 13, 2012 meeting.
