Roosevelt’s Blue Thunder Runners Celebrate Top Finishers

Port Angeles, Wash. – Blue Thunder runners have been running laps for fun and fitness at recess for 20 years now - first at the former Fairview Elementary School - now the tradition continues at Roosevelt Elementary. Students and staff run at recess and non-class times for fun and fitness.
Blue Thunder celebrated its 20th year with eight students recording over 1,000 laps each.
Craig Chamber's third grade class broke a school record completing 11,012 laps.
The school completed 39,396 laps during the 2011-12 school year for a total of 8,785 miles!
Blue Thunder awards were presented at the June school assembly: first place tie, Tanner Price and Hannah Reetz-1,675 laps; second place (three-way tie), Grayson Mahany, Tanner Lunt and Brady Nickerson-1,555 laps; third place, Chase Roberts-1,200 laps.
