School Board Approves Animals in Schools Policy
June 12, 2012
Port Angeles, Wash. – The Port Angeles School District Board of Directors approved an updated version of the Animals in Schools Policy at its Monday, June 12 School Board meeting.
“Changes to the policy itself are editorial in nature only,” said Superintendent of Port Angeles Schools Jane Pryne, “and, in general, the decision to allow animals in schools is still left up to the individual principals of each school.”
“The procedural guidelines,” Dr. Pryne added, “include a listing of ‘animals not allowed in schools” and align with Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Washington State Department of Health guidelines.”
