Thespians Present Spring Production - And Then They Came for Me, Remembering Anne Frank
May 03, 2012
Port Angeles, Wash. – Port Angeles High School’s Thespian Society presents its spring play, And Then They Came for Me, Remembering Anne Frank, on Tuesday, May 8 through Saturday, May 12 in the school’s auditorium, 304 East Park Avenue.
Directed by Kelly Lovall and written by James Still, And then they came for Me offers a unique viewing experience. It combines a multimedia play with videotaped interviews by holocaust survivors Ed Silverberg, played by Jacob Wood, and Eva Schlosss, played by Hope Chamberlain, with live actors creating scenes from the World War II period.
Silverberg was Anne Frank’s first boyfriend. Schloss was the same age as Anne Frank and lived in the same apartment building. She and her family went into hiding the same day as the Frank family. On Schloss’s 15th birthday, her family was arrested by the Nazis and sent to concentration camps. She and her mother survived, and after the war her mother married Otto Frank, Anne Frank’s father.
Other actors in this production are Lucy Bert as Anne Frank, Bethany Bond as a Hitler youth, Genna Birch and Megan Mundy as Silverberg’s parents. Schloss’s family members are portrayed by Robert Stephens as Pappy, her father; Katherine Methner as Mutti, her mother; and Justin Bradley as Heinz, her brother.
Prisoners are played by Christy Fagundes, Mary Dawson, Megan Mundy, Crystal Preston, Madelynne Jones, Charles Krause, Abby Mundy, Faith Chamberlain, Julian Jones, Ashlynn Johnson and Kelly Preston. SS guards are played by Daniel Iredale and Chris Eddleman.
Director Lovall says And then they came for Me was written for families and young audiences; it has no violence, profanity or graphic images.
Curtain time is 7:00 p.m. And then they came for Me runs approximately 70 minutes. Ticket prices are $7 for general admission and $6 for students. Tickets are available for purchase at the door.
