Dance Team Wins Award for Academic Achievement

Port Angeles, Wash. – The Port Angeles High School Rider Angels Dance Team was presented with the 2008-09 Winter State Academic Achievement Award at the school’s morning staff meeting today by Assistant Principal Jeff Lunt.

The Rider Angels team has the highest grade point average in 3A Dance & Drill and has received the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association/Dairy Farmer of Washington/LesSchwab Tires State Academic Achievement Award. 

The Rider Angels, coached by Jolene Dalton Gailey, are:  Jennifer Boesenberg, Kelsy Marshall, Jackie Sires, Grace Geren, Renee Bible, Celestinna Nuez, Delaney Ronish, Shelby Eddleman, Shanee Wimberly, Madeline Nolan, Jackie Sires, Georgia Hixson, Bridget Burke, Kirby Uranich, Kara Hatfield and Kelly Norris.

In his letter of congratulations, WIAA Executive Director Mike Colbrese said, “The WIAA Executive Board and staff are always rewarded by acknowledging the accomplishments of a team of talented students led by a dedicated coaching staff and supported by caring parents and school administrators.  Special recognition goes to Coach Jolene Gailey for emphasizing the important balance of Academics and Activities in your Dance & Drill program.”
