Thank You, Teachers - Let's Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week May 7 - 11!

Port Angeles, Wash. – The Board of Directors proclaimed May 7 - 11, 2012 as Teacher Appreciation Week in the Port Angeles School District at its regular April 9 meeting. Resolution 1112-12 “urges that all citizens observe this week by taking time to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of teachers.”  

“Teachers deserve recognition and thanks for the outstanding work they do for this community and for the children enrolled in the Port Angeles School District,” the Board noted in its resolution. “Teachers fill many roles: as listeners, explorers, role models, motivators, and mentors; these dedicated individuals continue to influence us long after our school days are only memories.”

Teacher Appreciation Week is also celebrated by proclamation of Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire.

RESOLUTION 1112-12

WHEREAS, teachers deserve recognition and thanks for the outstanding work they do for this community and for the children enrolled in the Port Angeles School District; and

WHEREAS, teachers open children’s minds and teach them skills, build their knowledge, and encourage their dreams;

WHEREAS, teachers keep American democracy alive by laying the foundation for good citizenship; and

WHEREAS, teachers fill many roles: as listeners, explorers, role models, motivators, and mentors; and

WHEREAS, these dedicated individuals continue to influence us long after our school days are only memories;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Directors does hereby proclaim May 7-11, 2012, as Teacher Appreciation Week in the Port Angeles School District, and urges that all citizens observe this week by taking time to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of teachers.

ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of Port Angeles School District No. 121, Clallam County, Washington, at a regular open public meeting of the Board of Directors held this 9th day of April, 2012.
