Beta Nu Professional Development Grants for EducatorsBeta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma has distributed checks for their fall 2017 Continuing Education grants for Professional Educators.  Four educators from Port Angeles School District, nine from Sequim School District and one from Quillayute Tribal School were selected based on applications submitted in November 2017.

Beta Nu representative Dr. Dodie French was on hand December 14 at the Jefferson Elementary School library to present grant checks to Port Angeles School District educators.  Receiving grant funds were Cheryl Gerardi/Port Angeles High School science teacher, who is working on her National Board Certification; Benjamin Komar/Roosevelt Elementary teacher, who is pursuing a Master’s degree in Teaching; Joyce Mininger/Jefferson Elementary principal, for the Science of Innovation Program; and Sabrina Scruggs/Stevens Middle School strings teacher, who is pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Education.

Grants are made available to selected educators working for professional improvement or development of their skills, and are funded by the Helen Gariepy Grants for School Educators in Clallam and Jefferson Counties. Ms. Gariepy’s substantial bequest honors her long career as an educator in Port Angeles. The grants are made available to any educator or paraprofessional working in a Clallam or Jefferson County school. Funding may be for full reimbursement of funds, or for partial reimbursement of programs not paid for from any other sources. Interested educators with questions can contact Kathy Strozyk at 360-683-1299 or kjstrozy@olypen.com and Sharle Osborne at sharleo@stevekoehler.com.
