Patrick Jennings Visits For Young Writers' Day

Author Patrick Jennings, who lives in Port Townsend, visited Franklin Elementary today for Young Writers’ Day. The Franklin Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) sponsored the event.

Students were divided into three groups: 1st/2nd grades, 3rd/4th grades and 5th/6th grades. Jennings’ presentation was different with each group. With the younger students, he modeled asking questions and being curious as a writer; that's how he gets ideas for his books. He shared his books and made a drawing as he told the story about Faith and the Electric Dogs (one of his books).

With the 5th and 6th graders, Jennings shared drafts of his new book that's coming out in November. He talked a lot about the life of a writer and how we are all writers.
