Potlatch

It is scheduled for March 11, 2010

4:00 - Open House in Tribal Center Dining Hall

4:30 - Dinner Prayer

5:00 - 8:00 Program

Directions: From Albertson's, drive west on Hwy 101 until you get to Dry Creek Rd. Turn right. When you get to Edgewood Drive take a left. When you get to Lower Elwha Road turn right. The potlatch will be at the Tribal Center.

Potlatch Protocol: If you have never been to a traditional Coastal Potlatch, here is some advice. Try to stay until the end, but if you have to leave, we understand. Witnesses need to make a commitment to stay until the end for closing statements. Try not to lose your keys or anything, because you might have to dance for it. If you want to bring a gift or say a few words, the floor will be open. There will be a blanket dance to raise money for a scholarship, so if you want to make a contribution, remember to bring money. If you have any Native American students in your class, they look forward to seeing you there. This is a time to share our culture with the Port Angeles School District.
