PASD Receives Kiwanis Foundation GrantsCongratulations to Principal Jeff Clark! The Kiwanis Foundation of Port Angeles has awarded two competitive grants to Port Angeles High School.  The two grants are for a combined total of $11,310.53 and are aimed at educational enhancement. These grants were made possible by Willard C. Muller’s generous bequest to the Kiwanis Foundation of Port Angeles.

The two awards are: Will C. Muller Graphic Novels Story Project at a cost of $1,310.53, submitted by PAHS Librarian Susan MacDonald; and Willard Muller Greenhouse at a cost of $10,000.00, from the team led by PAHS Instructor Adam Logan.

The Kiwanis Foundation’s grant review process identified several strengths in both proposals, which clearly addressed grant priorities: (1) To noticeably acknowledge Willard “Will” Muller’s generosity; (2) To use this grant as “seed money,” supporting an ongoing legacy; and, (3) To benefit many students. Both proposals show serious interest in our students and in enriching their high school experience.

Kiwanis Foundation President Lloyd Eisenman, Foundation Board Member Tom Allen, and Foundation Secretary Leslie Spotkov presented a check at the April 11 PASD Board of Directors Meeting.  Dr. Marc Jackson accepted the check and thanked them on behalf of the PASD Board.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned when the Willard Muller Greenhouse is ready to open at the high school.
