Port Angeles School Volunteers, Superintendent Recognized at 2018 Regional WASA Awards DinnerPatty and Mark Hannah were recognized for their volunteerism in schools during the annual Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) Region 114 Awards Ceremony and Dinner held April 16 at the Suquamish Clearwater Resort.

The couple has long been known in Port Angeles for their activism.  Among the “many hats they wear”, Patty is a Rotarian, and Mark is a member of the Kiwanis Club.  They were nominated by Port Angeles School District Assistant Superintendent Chuck Lisk.

Lisk spoke about their involvement in the Port Angeles School District, particularly at Stevens Middle School during his principalship, and their current involvement as reading tutors at Dry Creek Elementary.

“Mark and Patty Hannah are outstanding examples of the quality of volunteers that support the Port Angeles Community through their service organizations and the Port Angeles School District during their years of service tutoring math and reading at the elementary level.,” said Lisk.

“Mark’s work at Roosevelt and Dry Creek Elementary schools has had a positive impact on every student he has tutored in math over the years. Patty has focused her time on supporting students in reading at Dry Creek and motivating students to graduate as they move from Stevens Middle School through high school.’

“Students and staff recognize and thank them for the hours of time they volunteer for the Port Angeles community,” concluded Lisk.  “Like all our volunteers, they truly make a difference daily.”

The audience was made up of administrators, board directors, PTO officers and other community members from Bremerton, Brinnon, Cape Flattery, Central Kitsap, Chimacum, North Kitsap, North Mason, Port Angeles and South Kitsap School Districts.
